Brian Lara creates excitement at bmobile Divali Nagar booth

Port of Spain, Trinidad, October 17, 2017

Cricket legend and world record holder, Brian Lara upped the ante on excitement at the annual Divali Nagar celebrations when he visited the bmobile booth on October 16th.

The Prince of Port of Spain created quite a buzz and drew a large crowd during his scheduled visit to meet and mingle with his fans.  Visitors to the bmobile booth were already enjoying themselves by partaking in the various family-oriented activities at the booth’s fun zone, but the arrival of the former national under 19 and West Indies cricket captain was the crowning moment for many who took the opportunity to chat with the cricket legend and take photos with him.

The evening proved to be a fulfilling one for the bmobile Brand Ambassador who said “I love interacting with people, especially children, and to be able to spend a little time speaking with each person was very rewarding for me. I’m enjoying every moment of it and I wish to thank bmobile for their ongoing support of me.”

TSTT’s Vice President Marketing Camille Campbell thanked Lara for his time and said, “Brian is a well accomplished individual and as a bmobile Ambassador, Brian and bmobile share a common interest in making a positive impact in the lives of our citizens.”  Campbell also thanked the customers for visiting the booth and said “bmobile has grown over the years thanks to the continued support of our customers.  Our booth here at the Divali Nagar and the great specials on offer are our way of demonstrating in a clearly tangible way our gratitude to them. Thank you and Shubh Divali.”

The bmobile fun zone featured a free lively gaming area with virtual rock climbing and car racing, along with traditional games like the classic bean bag toss to win exciting give-aways and prizes. There was also the opportunity to get beautiful Mehendi designs done, as well as a photo station where booth visitors were offered a free selfie and a chance to win free broadband internet for a year if the selfie was posted on bmobile’s Facebook page.

Media personality and bmobile advocate Ancil ‘Blaze’ Isaac Jr. kept the visitors entertained with fun and laughter when he joined the bmobile Brand Ambassador for a Brian Lara quiz competition.  Participants who successfully answered questions about the career of the skilled batsman won a signature miniature cricket bat personally signed by Brian Lara.

The bmobile caravan was also out at the booth with super Divali Nagar specials on mobile phones and packages including mobile, residential landline, home security, cable TV and broadband internet.  Prizes and hampers were won by any person who topped up or purchased a phone, signed up to any package or installed the directory yellow pages app on their phones.  Mala Sahadeo already has broadband internet from bmobile and signed up for the Unlimited Voice Plan.  “The package is a much lower cost than the landline one I have now and offers excellent value for the price.  The unlimited calls are very suitable for my family and for me as a housewife.”

Kevin Ramdeen was a visitor with his wife Candice and 7-year-old daughter, Karissa.  “When we saw Brian Lara we had to stop and we were very excited to be able to take a picture with him.  I bought a phone card and got a chance to take part in the bean bag competition where I scored all four shots and won a beach chair.  I also took the opportunity to check out the prices on the phones and packages and I will be back tomorrow to upgrade my packages and phone.  The booth is beautiful, the customer service is excellent and we really had a great time.”  Candice added, “Brian Lara chatted with Karissa a bit and that was really nice because Lara is still the best cricketer from Trinidad and Tobago.”

Nesha Hassanali won a signature miniature cricket bat personally signed by Brian Lara by correctly answering 169 to the question ‘What is Brian Lara’s highest 1-day international score’.   “bmobile is the 1st booth we visited because when I saw Brian Lara I got so excited that I had to come into the booth.  I am a cricket fan and it was so thrilling to meet Lara and to win this personally signed bat from him.”  Randy Doon, a former national under 19 cricketer also met Brian Lara and took a picture with him.  He added, “The bmobile booth was a must-visit for me because Brian Lara is a legend and it was a great pleasure and an honour to meet him.”
